St. Johnstone finally have their man! After week's of speculation, 26-year-old Hibernian midfielder Melker Hallberg has signed for the Perth side

Talks had gone cold and it had appeared that the deal was dead until earlier this week when Hallberg said: "I'm not part of the new manager's plans and I have to respect that. We will see what happens now before the January window closes".
Then Hallberg left 'Hibs' after mutually terminating his contract. This caused further speculation, with St. Johnstone known to be interested in securing his services and allowed Saints to swoop in and sign the Swede.

Callum Davidson has now got Hallberg through the door, this can only be a good thing with our current woes in the middle of the park. The 26-year-old has 3 caps for Sweden, including 1 goal which was scored against Finland.
Here is what Hallberg said upon joining the club: "It’s great to have everything finalised and now I can focus 100 percent on St Johnstone.
"It’s nice to hear how much the manager wanted me to be part of this Football Club.
"I am looking forward to this challenge. There is a lot of hard work ahead and we will show the quality, the determination, and the spirit to climb up the table.”
He was a regular in the Hibernian team until he picked up a nasty injury that kept him out for 25 games, he never got back into the side.
Hallberg is a big addition to St. Johnstone who desperately needs reinforcements ahead of a relegation scrap, midfield was an area that needed improving, and signing a player like Hallberg is ideal. He lowers the average age in the middle of the park, adds something different to what we currently have, and also has bags of experience.
