What a Result! Dundee United 0-1 St. Johnstone

Callum Davidson's St. Johnstone came out on top against Dundee United at Tannadice Park earlier today, sealing a first victory in the orange half of Dundee since 2015.

Saints took all 3 points back to McDiarmid Park against high-flying Dundee United on Saturday afternoon - with a first-half Ali Crawford goal enough to seal all 3 points for the Perth side.

Saints threatened the home side early on with a couple of dangerous corners, however, Middleton scuffed his effort from the first, and Kane's inventive backheel failed to hit the target.

[Gordon and Clark battle for the ball]

United's first chance of the game came on the counterattack with a Levitt shot from range being easily gathered by Clark on 9 minutes.

St. Johnstone took the lead on 17 minutes after Cammy MacPherson won the ball tenaciously in the midfielder before threading it through to Ali Crawford. The Saints number 21 then took the ball in his stride and curled a magnificent effort from outside the box into the far bottom right-hand corner, leaving Siegrist with no chance. 1-0 St. Johnstone and a deserved lead.

Zander Clark made a flying save from a Ryan Edwards header from a corner, the first of many great stops from him this afternoon.

Saints were good value for their lead at the half.

Into the second half and Michael O'Halloran had the first chance of the second 45 for St. Johnstone, however, his effort blazed high and wide.

Once again Clark made a brilliant save from another Ryan Edwards header from a set-piece - somehow keeping the ball out which had looked destined for the top corner.

Zander Clark did brilliantly to keep a Peter Pawlett header from close range out to maintain his side's 1-0 lead. To the astonishment of the Dundee United attacker. The Saints number 1 then made a second save from Pawlett after the number 8 was found in space inside the box and fired a low effort at goal - Clark rose to the challenge and beat it away before getting up to make a second save. A brilliant double save.

Clark made another save from ex-Saintee Peter Pawlett, using his whole body to block from close range. Minutes later he then denied United striker Nicky Clark from close range in the dying moments, ensuring that Saints would leave with the points. What a second-half performance from him!

[Zander Clark makes yet another save]

The Perth side played well in the first half but certainly rode their luck in the second 45 with one man to thank in particular - Zander Clark - who just keeps his string of great performances going.

Full Time: Dundee United 0-1 St. Johnstone

Man-of-the-Match: Zander Clark

St. Johnstone number 1 Zander Clark was the far and away obvious candidate for today's MOTM award. The 29-year-old made a string of top top saves throughout the 90 and without him in between the sticks it is unlikely that Saints would have come away with the win, he was outstanding today and showed just why he deserves to be in the next Scotland squad. What a performance, one of the best you will see from a goalkeeper any time soon.

[Zander Clark was out of this world today]

What Did Callum Davidson Have to Say?

CD: "It was another energy sapper. We've had Celtic, Hearts and Dundee United in seven days and we've had a few injuries as well so we've hung in well.

[Callum Davidson's side pulled off a great result]

"First half we were excellent and defended well in the second with some excellent saves from Zander Clark. It just shows why he's been in the Scotland squad and hopefully, Steve Clarke was watching today."
