St. Johnstone confirmed the signing of 23-year-old ex-Derby County Striker Jahmal Hector-Ingram on a free transfer earlier today, with the Englishman joining until the end of the season.
Hector-Ingram is an unfamiliar face to many Saints fans, so just who is he?
Previous Club: Derby County
Jahmal came through the West Ham academy before moving to Derby County in 2019, where he excelled scoring 22 goals and grabbing 5 assists in 28 games, turning heads and earning a nomination for the Premier League 2 Player of the Year.
Jahmal made his debut for the Derby County senior side in 2020 off of the bench against West Brom, he would then go on to play 7 games for 'The Rams' the following season, all of which were from the substitutes bench.
He would then join Stevenage on loan, where he would make just one appearance. He left Derby last summer, in the midst of financial ruin.
Here is what Jahmal said upon signing for St. Johnstone:
“I am buzzing about this move, it is a great opportunity for me and I thank everyone at St Johnstone for showing faith in me.
“I’ve already had a couple of training sessions with the lads, I’ve been really impressed with the standard of my new teammates and with the level of coaching from the gaffer and his staff.
“I am well aware there is a big challenge ahead and I am ready to face that challenge head on.”
